Justice League Unlimited Conclusions... (spoilers)

I know Fuzun you hate me for having guessed it right about Luthor and Braniac (right down to the nanobots). But you have to remember that that Braniac has had multiple versions of himself running about on more than one occasion. So even if the Static Shock episode when Gears gets overcome by Braniac did come after the episode with Braniac forcing Luthor to build him a body it wouldn't matter. In fact, the way Braniac infected Luthor, the ordering of them doesn't matter (though I still think the Static Shock episode came first).

Anyway, I do have to say that the last few episodes were very good. I was very excited to see them work in the Mark Waid "Speed Force" concept for Wally, and for Wally to actually get to win the day for the team instead of one of the other heroes. In fact, all in all, Wally got a lot of good face time in the JLU (3rd/4th JL Seasons) then he did previously. So I was quite happy (being a huge Flash fan overall).

Luthoriac was interesting, and incorporating the Dark Heart tech was a clever thing as it really tied together a number of elements in the series (removed a lot of dead ends). The battling went kind of quick, and at the same time they were doing the same basic battle premise as they were over in Teen Titans - fighting your evil selves. Though the JL got the concept of pulling a change-up sooner (after all never fight yourself when someone else can).

Supergirl got some great screen time. Good for her getting to kick Power Girl's... errr... I mean Gaetea's ass. Its overkill. But as we learn that nanotech cloning that they used to make Gaetea played an important role in another series...

The last episode of the JLU season was titled Epilogue. I had heard that it was going to involve Batman in the future. But I didn't realized ahead of time what it was really about. It, in the end, had very little to do with the Justice League series itself. It did have a dotting older Waller. It did have Bruce Wayne. It did have Terry McGinnis (Batman of the future). And it told a very interesting tale.

Y'see here's the thing. Batman Beyond existed originally for one purpose, an attempt to modernize Batman for the toy industry to capitalize on. However, the toys they put out on it didn't do so well. But the cartoon series was a much larger success than they ever thought it would be. However it never completed its 3rd season, and therefore never had a proper ending.

However, Terry and the Justice League have had a few crossovers along the way. So in a way, he was a part of that series. And I guess it was felt that he needed a proper finale to his story. Something that assured, no matter what, Batman would always be there.

And so in the end, we find out that Terry McGinnis is really the son of Bruce Wayne by way of some old Project Cadmus nanobots (same one used to help clone and age Gaetea from Supergirl's DNA) injected into Terry's father by Amanda Waller (unbeknownst to him) so that a new Batman would be born.

We learn that the Phantasm (from the movie Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - some people mistook her for the Grey Ghost) was hired by Waller to kill Terry's parents. But she didn't follow through. But fate had Terry's father killed anyway. Thus his drive to be Batman (though as Waller points out he lacks Bruce's intellect).

Overall, a great way to end things for Terry. It gave him his due. And seeing him older was a nice touch.

And I look forward to the Legion of Doom next season!!!

Batman Beyond

Wasnt much of a fan of it until I saw the pilot episode and realized it was meant to continue the thread that was left hanging after the Dark Knight mini series. After that. I became a big fan. One of my favorite arcs was the Return of the Joker.

--Did someone say the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man is rampaging in Atlas Park? OMW and I'm bringing the Fire to toast 'im!

I thought Power Girl was

I thought Power Girl was Arion's daughter? Have they changed that?

That Ace looked familiar because she was Ace the last time the Royal Flush gang appeared. And Batman befriended her rather than beat her down that time too.

I just want these shows on DVD.

This has been a great season.
(I am a big Green Arrow fan, so Smiling

And I loved the speed force part.
I wonder if Wally will find out has fast he can really "run"?

The royal flush gang is another of my favorites. And that Ace looked liked I have seen her before.

With the stuff going on now in Crisis, it will be interesting to see what happens to the Power Girl in the comics. Since we don't know exactly where she comes from, now that Supergirl is back. I bet she's not a clone though Smiling

There is one little thing that tied everything together in a major way. It was the name of Amanda Wallers little pet project:

               Batman Beyond.

I'm betting that Braniac is not a member, but notice how the headquarters looks a lot like Braniac's ship???

Also notice Carter Hall.

Legion of Superheroes.
