Where I've Been

Sorry I've been away so much lately, I have been, as some of you may also have been, playing the World of Warcraft stress test beta. That game is really going to be something, it's incredibly well done. I have full intentions of maintaining my City of Heroes subscription (for me right now, World of Warcraft has become something of an addiction) and I am definately going to be playing WoW.

In fact, hopefully those of us that are interested in WoW can start up a guild in (hopefully there will be a Role-Play server, personally, that's all I will play on) Worlds of Warcraft. Let me put it this way, if you think, at all, that you will enjoy WoW, you will LOVE it.

The stress test has been extended to Sunday, so starting next week, I'll be back to full-time City of Heroes. I still absolutely love City of Heroes (like many of you, I've been playing since early beta pretty much non-stop (except when they had limited server hours *shudder*)), and I am very excited about the direction they're taking the game, so I may have been absent a lot lately, but I am certainly not finished, either with City of Heroes, or the Avatars of Justice.

p.s. Not that any of you were deathly worried by my absence, but hey, I felt like posting! Eye

p.p.s. Ask me anything you like about WoW, but I may be playing it too much to respond!

Well...

If you are looking for NWN2... I think DDO is next step. It's going to use D&D version 3.5? rules, so I think DDO will be attracting a lot of D&D lovers.

Geero

Well yeah, but...

You practically have to know C++ in order to accomplish the task of making a module. I guess I should have been clearer by saying, making it easier to build a module and possibly doing it on the fly as players move through the story.

Isn't this already possible with NWN?

NWN has an unprecedented amount of replayability for a self-contained game. Im hoping that NWN 2 achieves the ability to create a GM based online game/module.

As to replayability, it depends on how you look at it. If you are referring to simply the main story, then yeah, ToEE has more replayability. However, with the (literally) hundreds of player-made modules (some much better than the original story) the sheer number of hours you can get out of NWN is incalcuable.

Different

You control a greater variety of characters than in NWN. You can control 5 main characters and two subordinates.

And your party makeup is determined by the alignment of said party. You cant have a Paladin and a chaotic evil character in the group.

There are also several different opening scenes which are determined by the base alignment of the party. And there are at least three maybe five different end games. ToEE has a high rate of re-playability. The only downside is the AI of the game can sometimes be a little sluggish.

This all sounds very good and WoW does look good. I'll stick to CoH for now. I got so burned out playing fantasy games, that I wont even use th Magic origin in CoH. Smiling

Glad to see you're enjoying it. Keep us posted.

Temple of Elemental Evil

I loved NWN, it was well made game. I have been thinking about getting Temple of Elemental Evil... How is that game compare to NWN?

Geero

Giffith pictures.

The pictures STILL don't do it justice. You go though different zones and get to enjoy the trip by looking at the environment. It's sooooo pretty!<p>

I love the Graphics

The graphics, while a bit cartoony, are also fantastic, as are the animations. The style of graphics they have allow them to fit a lot onto the screen at great framerates (even on my crappy computer). The depth of view is phenomenal.

I wish I could show everyone what it's like to ride a gryffon (the equivalent of DAoC's horses). So amazingly great, they swoop you down over higher level areas to give you a taste of what's to come.

This game blows EQ out of the water (had five years on EQ too, but still). Everything you didn't like about EQ has been fixed in WoW.

Actually...

I was kinda wondering where ya been. As for my taste, I tried EQ and wasnt very happy with it.

WoW kinda has my interest, but the graphics are still the tripping point for me. I may just wait until the D&D online game kicks off in a year or so.

So far, NWN and Temple of Elemental Evil has managed to satisfy my Fantasy genre immersion.

Well, I just logged in at 8pm EST on Thursday, and I'm the only one on! Maybe I'm not the only one in the stress test. Eye
