And now we know Stateman's special power...

HeroClix Character Ranks

The Ranks are roughly levels in terms of the game. The higher the Ranker the more "powerful" the character is which means the more points the character is worth. Maq mentioned a way of using ranks in a serious of scenarios to create a campaign.

There are no requirements in take a higher/lower ranked characters in scenarios. The basic game is you pick a scenaior goal. Players take turns placing map and objects on the make to playing area. You have a given point limit for selecting your team. The more power a character is the points he is worth. But having fewer, more powers characters may not always win. Raw power doesn't alway win the day. Smiling

The play is very like table top miniture war gaming. Move characters, determine attack and def, roll dice to hit, take damage, etc. The Clix come in as the characters attack strength, Defense, damage and movement values are encoded on a dial in the base. They change for every click of damage. They don't always do down when damage is taken. For example, the Hulks attack and damage go up the more he is damages. Also certain power kick in and out as damage is taken. Powers can be invuln which reduced damage by 1 or 2 clicks. Armor penetrating always do 1/2 clicks of damage, attacking at range, attack 2 targets simultaneuosly, etc.

It's not hard to pick up. And it can be addictive. Gotta collect them all. Must have the ultra-rare X!!!!!

Okay is "Rank" the player ran

Okay is "Rank" the player rank rather than the character? Just seems odd to me that Batman is listed as a Rookie.

Reading the manual is something I'll do at some point.

While surfin' around looking for info about Hero Clix, I came across the CoH website. So Hero Clix served to wet my appetite for my first MMORPG. Also, Hero Clix is able to answer the age old question of Superman vs Batman, Spider-man vs Wolverine, Avengers vs. JLA.

MUAHAHAHAHA!! Evil

Err um ... So ya want to learn how to play Heroclix huh? Well, let me show ya how. Eye

I came up with a really good idea for a campaign.

First, there are three levels to the characters as well as some characters having an Ultra-rare. Now, each level has increasing point values from the Rookie to Experienced to the Veteran to the Ultra-Rare. An example of the Ultra-Rare is Spider-man in the alien symbiote costume.

Second, during a scenario you are given a mission. Much like CoH gives us a mission. And for completing this mission you get points. And these arent points I pull outta the air. The rule book covers point values for accomplishing certain tasks.

Third, for my campaign, all participants creates a team by drafting a rookie Hero or Villian. Yes, I can give the bad guys a mission to accomplish too. Evil And yes, only a rookie can be drafted. No higher stage character allowed.

And finally, once the mission scenario has been completed, participants can do one of two things:

a. Use the points to draft a new character to the team
b. Use the points to upgrade a character from one stage to the next. No skipping a stage. A character must stay at one stage for at least one mission. A character can not go from Rookie to Veteran in two missions. My campaign idea requires a character to particpate in at least two missions before they can field a Veteran character by the third mission. (No PLers allowed Sticking out tongue)

So who's interested Laughing out loud

Actually that's how I killed

Actually that's how I killed my Magic addiction. One days I walked into a friends shop and sold him all my cards. Done. After that I used other peoples cards to play not my own.

Note: I didn't say buy stuff so I could learn to play, I said show me how to play -- as in with their stuff Smiling

NO!

Star........

I give you a warning of dire portence!

DO NOT learn to play Heroclix! It is too damn addictive! The only way I was able to get my habit under control was by selling everyone of them I had so that I couldn't play!

It's a truly fun game, but it's got the addictive abilities of Magic, at least it did for me anyways.

Resist the darkness, stay in the light! Evil

It was explained to me that that is his team ability (the copying thing). Posted on the main forums too.

His power fluctuations (sounds like he's a tanker with scrapper abilities), and his lightning strike are his special powers.

Some day someone with heroclix will have to walk me through playing.
