Respec for high level folks

All i know is that I am STILL angry at not getting it done and I definitely want another crack at it tomorrow............but what time? We can try the same time again if it works with everyone.

Even with all my grumbling, I had a good time. If you still need me, I'd be happy to come. Keeping the group size down is a good idea.

Next time i go in I need to make sure I have plenty o insprations. Especially accracies.

So I heard.

Sorry I couldn't help out, but only one of the laptops can really handle the game, the otherone swaps way too much, and you can literally disconnect while zoning.

I did feed as much as I had in my head to Dale before the Nyquil finally got the better of me (been sick).

A FF bubbler is not 100% necessary. I've done it 3 times myself and succeeded twice. Neither of the successes had a bubbler, and one did not even have a full-time healer (only a rad defender).

What likely hurt most was the size of the team you brought. It can be done with 6/7 person teams like you had, but it is best done with 4/5 person teams as it keeps the spawn sizes down -- those are already larger than normal spawn sizes to begin with (the official quest name is Terror Volta).

A tanker who's really good at crowd control would make a huge difference, one success time was with a perma-Unstoppable tank -- the one without the healer. Other time had an Earth/Empathy controller. I atrribute the successes to both those chars (all Starmaster is good at it gobs of destruction and dying).

And don't sweat the deaths or debt, most people walk out of that mission at full debt or at least a few 100k worth.

And of course, any tactics you use to get to the reactor room go out the window once you get there, because the reactor battle is about 6-8 waves of sheer chaos. Note that trip-mining the room before the reactor would be a good tactic as I remember seeing mobs run back through there several times myself that we had to chase down.

I'm sure there are much better guides to the respec trial on the CoH forums but here's the overview. I've only done the rikti version but I'm guessing they're similar.

You need a minimum of four people to do the respec. Naturally a balanced team is a good thing. Force field characters are especially useful - they can bubble the reactor.

Depending on your level range, the contact to start is in Independence Port (valor bridge), Founders falls (north end of Gaspee) or the Rikti Crash Site (right as you enter). You'll fight Sky raiders, freakshow, and rikti respectively so be prepared. You might also want to stock up on lots of rez inspirations.

You get a few simple missions that lead into the reactor. (Kill 20 rikti, two door missions, then the reactor for the rikti version.) It behaves like a regular taskforce.

Inside the reactor, you'll have to very carefully fight your way through the control room and into the reactor itself. There are a LOT of side rooms so be cautious of doors - it's very easy to aggro more spawns than you intended and they have a heavy mix of bosses and Lt's.

Be careful of the bomb near the door to the reactor hallway.

Fight carefully through the hallway, or just stealth through if you like that better. The hallway has lots of bombs too. Remember bombs can work FOR you as they damage the bad guys too - snipe is your friend.

Inside the outer reactor room, there are two things of note. First is a rack holding cooling belts. There will be one for each player. Everyone take one. You can use it to heal the reactor when it gets damaged. There is also a platform. Stand on it, and you get a red bubble around you. This protects you from the radiation in the reactor. Without it you take damage. You'll have to run out during the fight to get a fresh bubble.

Suggestions in no order:

1. FF characters can put insulation/deflection shields on the reactor. Dispersion bubble also protects it. It can be healed by cooling belts which have limited charges.

2. It may be useful to assign one person just to watch the reactor.

3. Spawns come in waves from the upper scaffold. You get some breaks. During breaks it's always a good idea to refresh your red bubble. The exit is to the west - your map won't work in the reactor.

4. I don't know how many waves hit you but it's a lot. 8-10 maybe?

5. If you die, and use an awaken or get a rez the first thing you want to do is... refresh your red bubble.

6. There is no timer shown but you are on the clock. I believe the clock starts once you get past the bomb at the first door.

Flying blasters don't get nailed with smasher stuns nearly so often

Rikti on the other hand....ugh.

I can't join, but if the 30s respec is anything like the 20s respec, my recommendation is to keep the size of your TF as small as possible! Everytime I tried the 20s with more than 5 people, I died lots of horrible deaths.

With 5 people, I still died, but not so many times.

LOL......OK. I have no idea at all as to how to do this. I haven't even read the article or anything about it, so I guess I will try and get myself up to speed today before we go. Usually, I just follow the instructions of the NPC's and do what they say. As long as I actually take the time to read it, it has served me well.

So, it looks like the party will be small, but will consist of:

Tech Know
Frosty
Light-Ice Man

We should plan to meet at 6PM West Coast Time, Which is 8PM CST, and 9PM for Light-Ice Man. I will see if I can't rope a RL friend or two into coming along also, just for fun.

That is to say, Freakshow Smashers can be troublesome with the shockwaves they can generate. I would advise exercising caution when confronting them.

And I'd like to take Fuzun on another TV Trial. I think it would be absolutely awsome with Avatars and Archons.

Well Tank Smashers and other hammer handed freaks stun, but not nearly as bad as Rikti do. To this day I do not understand the point of the Chief Mentalist AI "I will keep the human asleep so it can't kill me, but I am not mighty enough to kill it so I will be here all day."

I actually didn't know you could Exemplar into it -- I'd really like to try it with Sky Raiders some time.

Oh I haven't forgotten. I'll take it any way I can get it right now. I'd much rather deal with, say, Freakshow than Rikti. No status effects from the freaks.

You can exempler and still do the respec.
It is a little eaiser to do at say 28, than 44...
